07 Jun A letter from a therapist to her clients
Naturally, therapy can be scary to consider. Especially for those of us who struggle with expressing feelings or even understanding them. Most know they need therapy or someplace where they can go to work through what is causing distress, but that can be scary and hard to navigate. I try to tell my clients when they call or email to make an appointment that I really emphasize our relationship first and that it’s very important to feel comfortable with me. That’s why I feel it’s important to offer free 30 minute consultations so clients can meet me, see my space and talk about how to move forward with therapy. Ultimately, most end up scheduling an appointment with me and I’ll tell you why.
I like people and their stories, period. I truly desire to know each person I meet and to understand where they are coming from. I want to hear their life story so that we can begin together to recognize patterns that are repeating. Yes, therapy can be scary, BUT, I will tell you that if you find the right therapist, it can be incredible. Where else can you find someone that wants to know you on a deep level so that together we can walk along the story of your life and discover it’s beauty and share it sorrow. I like the footprint in the sand to show that our walk together will leave a dent in both your life and as always, in mine too.
